This project centred around a new business specialising in healthcare services and training courses. The new site would need to work hard to ensure the content was presented well and could be navigated around easily, while also showcasing the range of services available, including a training course directory for up coming courses. Both design and function would be important here, as well as the opportunity to ensure the right functionality was in place to help the business grow online.
The client wanted a site that looked good and performed well. They were also looking to update aspects of the content themselves going forward, as the business grew, so usability needed to be at the top of the list. As a healthcare business the site design and content had to promote trust and include relevant legal information. They also needed the site to work well across all devices as the majority of their audience would be visiting via a mobile device.
Jacks background in healthcare and his digital knowledge meant he could sympathise with the issues that both the client and their audience would potentially face and could provide practical advice across every aspect of the project.
We created a new WordPress site; put together with a range of different sections to reflect the varied nature of the business. This also helped us create a professional, consistent look when presenting content to audiences – including regulatory information such as the Care Quality Commission. We also helped with the text element of the content, ensuring titles and headlines were search-friendly.
We included advanced features such as a staff portal, where staff could access policies and company information using unique log on details. And a training course directory, where an advanced custom post type was developed so upcoming courses could be added easily, plus each training course had a unique page to assist with SEO.
Whilst they weren’t offering courses just yet, we helped them set up pages to measure attendee interest.
As user experience was a key focus here we incorporated simple dropdown navigation and obvious call to actions on the homepage and throughout.
The website is home to a wide range of content but has been designed with the user experience and journey as a main requirement, so all the information available is now easy to reach and understand. The site itself works exceptionally well on mobile, which services the majority of the audience, and the advanced features such as the staff portal allows secure access for downloading regulatory policies and sensitive information.
The scope for growth is already in place with specific areas designed for upcoming training events, a solid SEO set up and easy linking ability for social media advertising and more.
