Introducing HudsonsElec, Electricians in Liverpool

HudsonsElec is run by Bryan, based in Liverpool. They pride themselves on delivering reliable, high-quality work across homes and small businesses in Merseyside. Like many growing trades businesses, HudsonsElec were looking at taking the next step and growing their online prescene with a new website design that properly reflects the quality of their workmanship.

After searching online for a website designer in Liverpool, Bryan got in touch us looking for a professional website that builds trust, generates new enquiries and helps him to grow his business.

The current website was built using a DIY platform called Webador which had worked when first setting up, but was no longer fit for purpose. Bryan also recognised that it would be best to trust his new website design with a professional company, so he could focus on running his business as an electrician and not spending hours trying to juggle website builders/Google search console and everything else that he’d come across!

Why they chose a web designer in Liverpool

We arranged an initial call and then sent across a full custom proposal for Bryan to consider, with our pay monthly website plans. This meant no upfront fees and that HudsonsElec could spread their investment instead.

Once we sent across a proposal, Bryan actually reconsidered and moved onto our Spotlight plan (after initially thinking about going ahead with ‘Glow’) because he saw the benefit in having additional pages. Our spotlight plan allows for a higher page count, so that every electrical service could have it’s own page (and therefore search terms related specifically to those e.g. led lighting liverpool).

We were at the end of a phone call or email with Bryan, to answer any questions from the start and took the time to understand what he wanted to achieve. The end result has been a brand new website which exceeds his expectations and creates an attractive site that also brings in new customers.

From the first call, Bryan also mentioned he’s an Everton fan… so we made sure to stick to the brief of blue over red!

A bespoke website design, delivered in weeks

Once we got started, everything moved quickly so we could get HudsonsElec online as quickly as possible. Bryan was great at sending across his design questionnaire and content ideas within a matter of days, so we matched his pace and worked hard to deliver an initial design concept (then build) all within a few weeks.

We always keep clients up to date with progress, inviting as much or as little involvement as they want. Some clients like to be more involved in the design, whereas others like Bryan trust us to create a design that matches the overall website brief.

Just a few weeks after initial enquiry, HudsonsElec had a brand-new WordPress website that looked the part and performed exactly as it should. The site was designed to be clear, modern, and easy to navigate, with strong calls-to-action to encourage enquiries.

As a local electrician in Liverpool, it was important the website reflected their service area and expertise clearly so we structured the site with this in mind, helping position them strongly for local searches and making it easy for potential customers to get in touch. It also needed to be mobile-friendly website design, appreciating that many customers would likely be searching for electricians on their phone.

Migration, redirects, and getting the foundations right

Moving from a DIY builder to a bespoke WordPress site can feel daunting but we took care of it all. HudsonsElec were previously using a .com domain so we have supported them in migrating to a more locally relevant .co.uk domain. As part of this, we implemented 301 redirects to ensure any existing traffic or links continued to work properly which protects their visibility and avoids any lost customers.

We used WordPress for the new website which provides a strong foundation for the site being search-friendly as well as technical performance.

Whilst we can work quickly to deliver a new website for clients, we don’t skip corners and still put all websites through our 50+ point checklist before launch. This includes using Google Pagespeed Scores and comparing such with GTMetrix, to ensure the site is fast loading. We are pleased to have achieved 100/100 on Google pagespeed for HudsonsElec as per the report you can see below:

Converting website design into paying customers

Within 24 hours of launching the new website, HudsonsElec received their first enquiry which also turned into a paying customer for an electrical callout! This immediately confirmed that whilst the new website looks good, it also works in bringing return on investment.

A key part of the website was to introduce a contact form at the top of each service page, so that customers could quickly get a ‘free quote’. Whilst these enquiries won’t all convert into paying customers, it makes the process quick and easy compared to the old website which relied upon navigating to a contact page and then filling out a more detailed contact form and/or ringing up.

In the modern world, website visitors have very little attention span (this applies to us all!) and you will likely recognise that those websites which make it easy to request a quote will grab your attention more.
