PropertECO are radon testing and mitigation specialists, based in Cheshire. They work across the UK to reduce levels of radon and ensure the safety of homes and businesses. Radon is a naturally occurring gas which is undetectable without specialist testing, but can be dangerous.
PropertECO got in touch with Wattage Media, based upon recommendation from a client whom we had worked with for 5+ years (providing website maintenance). They weren’t looking for a complete overhaul, but did feel like the site needed a bit of a ‘tweak’ to improve the look and SEO performance.
As such, our mission was to provide a re-design without changing the existing infrastructure. It was also important to gain an understanding of the anticipated changes as well as planned SEO (search engine optimisation) efforts that were going to be completed in-house.
Working with their current site as a base, we created a new WordPress theme to overhaul the design. This ensured the current site architecture was unchanged and there was no downtime to the website.
We created a ‘staging copy’ of the website which basically takes a mirror-copy of the website, saved on a testing/staging area. The benefit of using a staging site is that we can develop the new theme and test any changes, all without any effect upon the live website.
Once the design was complete and tested, we could also share with PropertECO for a final review before then uploading and replacing the theme on the live version of the website.
Whilst we don’t provide SEO (search engine optimisation) ourselves, we do work with a marketing agency closely so we can refer clients to a trusted partner. The reason being is that SEO is a significant project in itself and whilst we stick to building quality websites, our trusted partner provides specialist search services (including search marketing and pay per click).
The benefit of working closely with our SEO partner is that we can work jointly, in the interests of our client. So no need to communicate with two different web companies, instead we can liaise between ourselves to ensure your website is fully maintained from a technical perspective alongside improved search results.
Whilst this project with PropertECO was slightly different as it was a redesign, we do build all our websites to be search-friendly as standard. This means any small business won’t need SEO services initially/dependant on target search terms, however it can be a great investment for those looking to grow their business. Think of your professional website design being the foundations, give them time to settle in and see how your website performs, then SEO/search advertising is the extension that brings you extra results! Either way, we can advise on the best way forward for long-term growth from day 1 of reaching out… we always discuss you and your business on an individual basis, never taking on a project that we don’t think will be in your best interests.
With a fresh new look, the website provides a better user experience and overhaul. It makes it easier for website visitors to navigate the site and find relevant information, especially with the content available constantly growing.

Overall, the website is now in a much better position and working hard for PropertECO in attracting new leads. The long-term plan will be to consider a whole new website upgrade but this project is a good example of how we can tailor any website design to your requirements… whether you are starting from scratch, looking for an interim redesign or a complete overhaul/moving to a new platform.
Whilst we continue to monitor and maintain the website for the team at PropertECO so they have peace of mind, we also help with their printing requirements.
