Jack has been excellent with supporting us with developing our new website for our accounting practice. The whole process was well communicated and Jack really took the time to understand our business and what we wanted to achieve with the website.I would highly recommend Jack to anyone needing a new website or support with their existing website!

When Andrew launched EmeraldSteel Accounting, he needed a website that reflected the same professional, experienced and trustworthy approach he brings to his clients. Andrew may be an accountant in Crewe, but provides services for clients across the UK.
As a newly established independent accountancy practice, it was important that the website created confidence immediately while also giving the business room to grow over time. We worked with Andrew to design and launch a modern three-page website on our Spark monthly website package, creating a strong online foundation for the next stage of the business.
Shortly after launch, Andrew received his first online enquiry and is now keen to keep growing the website and working with us for a long future ahead!
Here’s some more details on how we helped EmeraldSteel and thinks to consider when it comes to accountancy website design projects…
Although EmeraldSteel Accounting operates remotely and can support clients across the UK, local visibility within Crewe and surrounding areas was still important during the early stages of growth.
One of the key considerations during planning was that Andrew had recently moved location, so we needed to carefully balance local SEO targeting with the flexibility to grow in the future.
Andrew also wanted the reassurance of ongoing website maintenance and support, while still having the ability for himself and his wife to make simple content updates when needed. The benefit of using WordPress as the CMS (content management system) of choice as well as our monthly website plan is that we include everything needed (hosting, maintenance, security scanning) but also provide client access for making edits as much as you need.
One of the biggest challenges with website design for accountants is avoiding the “generic corporate” feel that many firms fall into. During the planning process, we researched competitors and found many websites were either overloaded with technical information or lacked enough detail to build trust properly. This shows the importance of taking the time to chat through a design brief with clients as well as sharing examples from both local & national competitors – something we always do here at Wattage Media.
The plan was to create a clean, modern design that was professional without being overly corporate. This meant that clear layouts, consistent typography and simple navigation would help to keep the focus on Andrew’s content and unique selling points. This also meant we featured Andrew throughout the website to ensure a personal feel and really showcase why choosing EmeraldSteel as your accountancy practice in Crewe makes sense!
Another challenge is often finding suitable imagery… Website designs for accountants often rely heavily on cliche stock photography and the ‘corporate look’. To overcome this, we focused on a style that used imagery sparingly and focused upon a subtle design features (you may notice semi-transparent icons used to create bespoke backgrounds, giving that bespoke feel and not plastering stock imagery across the site).
Ultimately, anyone looking for an accountant wants someone who is trustworthy and experienced; website design plays a key role in getting that messaging right and encouraging potential clients to reach out.
We built the EmeraldSteel website using WordPress, which is our content management system (CMS) of choice for client projects. WordPress is widely used across the world and makes sure clients can benefit from a flexible platform, that can grow with their business.
Even though the website is only a 4-page website to begin with, it still made sense to invest in a WordPress-powered website so we can easily grow in the future. We are often asked about delaying website projects until the client is ready to launch a large site with lot’s of content, yet Andrew’s approach shows the benefits in starting with our ‘Spark’ plan (from £69 per month) and growing over time. We can grow your website at anytime so whether that’s in 6 months or 3 years, it’s always worth getting started sooner and benefitting from new enquiries.
We have already planned out additional pages/features that Andrew wants to add in the next few months, including a blog for regular accountancy industry articles/FAQs/custom pricing calculator and more.
WordPress also provides strong SEO potential, particularly for search terms such as “accountant in Crewe” and helping support long-term visibility online. We can advise further on local landing pages optimised for relevant search terms and how to ensure content across the website is search-friendly.
